CEED Lending Small Business Loan

CEED Lending is an initiative of the Great Lakes Women’s Business Council (WBC). Providing business expansion financing, and small business loans to start-up and existing enterprises with the goal to help owners take their small businesses to the next level.

All of CEED loans come with free technical assistance, including a business growth manager who works with you to grow and sustain your business.

  • Eligibility: Business must be located in one of the 9 southeast MI counties
  • Terms: Competitive fixed rate, Up to 5 years
  • Max Amount: $5,000 to $50,000

Opportunity Resource Fund Small Business Loans

OppFund provides loans for the startup and expansion of a small business, at every stage with the goal of ensuring that all small businesses have equal access to capital. Within our Justice Fund Initiative we have a primary focus on minority-owned businesses and will provide, directly or through our partners, technical support during all phases of the process.

  • Eligibility: Be a privately held small business (as defined by SBA), legally established/registered with the State of MI, majority owned by a resident of MI; planning to use funds for future expenses. Special loans may be available, with very limited grant support, to minority-owned businesses located in Detroit within our Justice Fund Initiative.
  • Terms: Flexible, generally not beyond five years; Interest rates are competitive and designed to accommodate the needs of your business
  • Max Amount: $10,000 to $250,000

The Invest Detroit small business program is committed to inclusive support and offers loan programs and technical assistance to both new and established businesses located in Detroit. The loan program supports working capital, machinery and equipment, tenant improvements, real estate and more for small businesses.

  • Eligibility: Must be located in city of Detroit with potential and desire to grow revenues and create jobs

SBA Shuttered Venue Operators Grant (SVOG)

The program includes over $16 billion in grants to shuttered venues, to be administered by SBA’s Office of Disaster Assistance. Eligible applicants may qualify for grants equal to 45% of their gross earned revenue. $2 billion is reserved for eligible applications with up to 50 full-time employees.

  • Eligibility: Venues who suffered revenue loss due to COVID-19; Grants to shuttered venues who in operation as of February 29, 2020 and have not received a PPP loan on or after December 27, 2020.

CDC Small Business Finance offers affordable and responsible SBA financing to small businesses in Detroit. In addition, we offer complimentary business advising to loan applicants and existing borrowers. CDC Small Business Finance and Capital Impact Partners, a leading CDFI, partner in Detroit which is one of their place-based pilot programs.

  • Eligibility: Credit score of at least 620; Capital investment: 10% for startups and business acquisitions; Funds can be used for working capital, operating expenses, tenant improvements, equipment, business acquisition, and refinancing of business debt

Visa is continuing to take action and remove the disproportionate barriers faced by Black women founders by providing this resilient & fast-growing segment of entrepreneurs with capital and coaching that will enable more Black women-owned small businesses to continue making an impact with their product or service.

  • Eligibility: Black women-owned businesses, located in the city Detroit, must be in business for 2+ years, have a minimum annual revenue of $24,000 or more, a growing business, a business that has a product or service in market, has a compelling digital presence
