City Relaxing Outdoor Seating Restrictions

Notice: This information has been amended, up to date regulations and information can be found here:

The City of Detroit is launching Open Detroit to make it easier for restaurants and cafes to offer outdoor seating when they reopen at 50% capacity after June 8th. To receive a permit, first review the Open Detroit Guide and Reopening Guide for Restaurants and Bars to make sure your business is able to meet all of the outdoor seating requirements.

Once you have reviewed both guides, fill out the Outdoor Seating Registration Form. You will then receive an email notifying you of permission to seat customers outdoors on sidewalks or parking lots. If you are requesting to take advantage of the City’s Parklet or Restaurant Recovery Zone options, you will need to wait until you are contacted by the City granting you permission.
